FiveM Crashes

“I keep crashing on FiveM”

Basic Troubleshooting Steps

Verify Game Integrity:

Verify the integrity of GTA V files on Steam or Epic Launcher or Rockstar Launcher to ensure there are no corrupted files.

Reinstall FiveM:

Uninstall FiveM, delete all related files from %localappdata%\FiveM, and reinstall the latest version of FiveM.

Update GPU Drivers:

Ensure you have the latest NVIDIA or AMD graphics drivers installed (consider rolling back to a stable version if you're using a beta driver).

·         You can find out what graphics card you have by clicking on your Windows start button >> type: System Info >> Components >> Display >> Name

Clear Server Cache:

Delete the FiveM cache in %localappdata%\FiveM\ cache and try again.

·         Windows start button >> type: run >> enter >> then paste: %localappdata%\FiveM\

Remove Texture Packs:

Remove all custom texture packs or mods that might be interfering with the game.

Disable Overlays:

Turn off overlays in applications like Discord, NVIDIA GeForce Experience, Steam, or Xbox Game Bar.

Change Power Management Settings:

Set power management to Prefer Maximum Performance in NVIDIA Control Panel.

·         Search for “Edit Power Plan” >> select Change advanced power settings >> Drop down to change to Maximum Power

Intermediate Troubleshooting Steps

Disable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (Windows 11):

·         Go to Settings → System → Display → Graphics Settings, and turn off Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling.

Disable Virtualization-Based Security (VBS):

Turn off Memory Integrity under Windows Security → Device Security → Core Isolation.

Check Game Mode and Graphics Performance Preferences:

Enable Game Mode in Settings → Gaming, and set FiveM to High Performance under Graphics Settings.

Disable Full-Screen Optimizations for FiveM:

Right-click on FiveM.exe → Properties → Compatibility → Disable fullscreen optimizations.

Update Windows 11:

Ensure all Windows 11 updates are installed, especially any optional updates related to drivers or system improvements.

Check GPU Settings:

In NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings, turn off Image Scaling, set Low Latency Mode to Off, and ensure Threaded Optimization is enabled.

Advanced Troubleshooting Steps

Reinstall Visual C++ Redistributables:

Uninstall and reinstall all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables from the official Microsoft website.

Use Safe Mode in FiveM:

Launch FiveM in Safe Mode via the settings menu to eliminate any potential interference from custom mods or settings.

·         To launch FiveM in safemode, you need to open the fivem.cfg file located in %appdata%/CitizenFX and set the option nui_useInPrecessGpu to false

Adjust Windows Virtual Memory Settings:

Set a custom page file size in System Properties → Advanced → Performance → Virtual Memory.

Run Hardware Stress Tests:

Use tools like FurMark (GPU), Prime95 (CPU), and MemTest86 (RAM) to check for any hardware instability.

Check Windows Reliability Monitor:

Open Reliability Monitor from the Start menu and look for any related error logs that could provide additional crash information.

Clean Boot Your PC:

Perform a clean boot by disabling all non-Microsoft services and startup items to rule out background interference.

Reinstall FiveM and GTA V Dependencies:

If issues continue, reinstall both FiveM and GTA V to rule out corrupted files or installations.

Use Compatibility Mode:

Right-click FiveM.exe, go to Compatibility settings, and run the game in Windows 8 or 10 compatibility mode.

Check for GPU Driver Conflicts:

Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to cleanly uninstall your NVIDIA drivers and reinstall a stable, non-beta version.

·         Make sure to download from a trusted source, for example Intel: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html
